The Kansas City Royals’ Tuesday game against the Chicago White Sox was postponed due to rain. It has rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon (1:10 first pitch) in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Kansas City won the series opener 2-0 on Monday.

Chicago’s Jonathan Cannon debuts in the first game, facing the Royals’ Brady Singer. Michael Wacha for the Royals and Erick Fedde for the White Sox start the second game, scheduled to start just 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first contest. The rainout gives Royals’ catcher Salvador Perez an extra day of rest for his groin injury. Perez, batting .339 with four homers and 15 RBIs this season, had an MRI confirming a mild strain.

Tommy Pham finalized a minor league deal with the White Sox, joining Triple-A Charlotte before moving up. Manager Pedro Grifol praised Pham’s hitting prowess and edge. Last season, Pham hit .256 with 16 homers and 68 RBIs, aiding the Arizona Diamondbacks’ World Series run after being traded from the New York Mets.

Lance Lynn secured his first win for the St. Louis Cardinals in seven years with a 3-2 victory over the Athletics on Tuesday night. He pitched seven innings, allowing only one earned run and five hits, bringing his season ERA to 2.18 in four starts. JoJo Romero and Ryan Helsley closed out the game, with Helsley earning his seventh save of the year, the most in the majors. The Cardinals, now at .500 with a 9-9 record, won their second consecutive game against the A’s.

Masyn Winn and Jordan Walker’s consecutive sacrifice flies off Dany Jiménez turned the game around for the Cardinals in the sixth inning, overcoming a 2-1 deficit. Kyle McCann’s RBI single and his first major league homer provided the A’s runs. The A’s, with a home record of 3-9 and an overall record of 7-11, have announced plans to relocate to Sacramento from 2025-27 and then to Las Vegas.

Willson Contreras extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a seventh-inning single, also reaching safely in 22 consecutive games dating back to last year.

A moment of silence was observed for former Cardinals manager Whitey Herzog, who passed away at 92. Herzog, who played for the Kansas City A’s from 1958-1960, was honored before the game.

Next up, Cardinals’ left-hander Steven Matz starts the series finale against A’s righty Paul Blackburn, who hasn’t allowed a run in 19⅓ innings this season.
