South Harrison Tournament’s newest entry, #3 ranked Mercer, opens 2017 event tonight

The #1 seeded Mercer Lady Cardinals head for Bethany at mid-afternoon, opening the 2017 edition of the South Harrison Invitational Tournament with a meeting against Maysville at 4:30.  Maysville, the #8 seed, has only two victories this season (Tri-County and Gilman City) and comes off a Friday night blowout loss at Trenton.  Mercer, after playing in the 2016 Milan Tournament, made the decision to join the South Harrison Tournament, starting in 2017.

All girls quarterfinals and semifinals will be played on the same nights (Monday and Wednesday) at South Harrison, with the boys quarterfinals and semifinals to be played on Tuesday and Thursday.

The #4 seeded Princeton Lady Tigers will play Putnam County at 6 o’clock on Monday night, followed by the #3 seed North Harrison Lady Shamrocks playing East Harrison at 7:30, and the host South Harrison Lady Bulldogs entertaining the #7 seed from Northeast Nodaway at 9 o’clock.

In the boys quarterfinals on Tuesday night, the #1 seed Mercer Cardinals play North Harrison at 4:30, followed by a 4 vs. 5 match with Maysville taking on Princeton at 6 o’clock, the #3 seed South Harrison Bulldogs opposite Northeast Nodaway at 7:30, and the Putnam County boys, seeded #2, going against the East Harrison Bobcats at 9 o’clock.
