Sporting Kansas City is set to honor their 2013 MLS Cup championship season with a special Throwback Night event on Saturday, August 26th. The celebration will take place during the team’s MLS regular season home match against the San Jose Earthquakes at Children’s Mercy Park.

As part of the festivities commemorating the 10th anniversary of the memorable 2013 campaign, numerous players from the 2013 Sporting Kansas City roster are expected to attend and be recognized during halftime of the SKC vs. SJ match. Fans can look forward to seeing players such as Matt Besler, Benny Feilhaber, Graham Zusi, and more, who played a pivotal role in securing Sporting KC’s second MLS Cup championship.

The returning players will participate in a special entrance through the Budweiser Brew House at the stadium. Additionally, Supporters’ Stand ticket holders of legal drinking age will have the opportunity to enjoy the “beer corner” tradition prior to kickoff, with a returning player buying drinks for fans in the northeast corner of the stadium.

A commemorative capsule collection by SportingStyle will be released on Throwback Night, featuring items that celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the 2013 MLS Cup championship. Fans attending the event will also have the chance to pick up a commemorative poster and captain’s pennant on the Mazuma Plaza, while the 2013 MLS Cup trophy will be on display for photo opportunities with fans.

Sporting Kansas City won their second MLS Cup championship in December 2013 with a dramatic victory over Real Salt Lake, culminating in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw. This celebration aims to honor the team’s historic achievement and bring back memories of that memorable season.
