Trenton Bulldogs announce post-season award winners at end-of-season banquet

The Trenton High School football team celebrated its seniors and the 2018 season on Thursday night, with the annual banquet held in the THS Commons.

Head Coach Brandon Boswell said, despite the less-than-hoped for success of a 3-7 season, the Bulldogs showed good promise for future success, with junior quarterback Sam Schilling throwing for the 4th-best one-season number in program history, while junior wide-out Jaren Whitney, with 684 yards, had the 2nd-greatest one year total in program history, and enters his senior season fifth in all-time receiving yards for the Bulldogs.

Trenton had five All-GRC selections, and won on both Homecoming and Senior Night for just the third time in the past eight years.

Postseason award winners, as announced by Coach Boswell, were:

Freshman of the Year : Tyler Siemer

Sophomore of the Year : Royce Jackson

Junior of the Year : Carson Burchett

Hitman of the Year : Caleb Johnson

Hustle ‘n Desire : Payden McCullough

Most Improved Player : Mark Trump

Scout Team Player of the Year : Kael Brock

Special Teams Player of the Year : Dalton Burchett

Offensive Lineman of the Year : Hunter Trask

Defensive Player of the Year : Jadan Whitney

Offensive Player of the Year : Jaren Whitney 

Trenton’s “Mr. Football” : Isaac Harris
