Trenton Bulldogs earn postseason baseball district/academic awards

The Trenton Bulldogs first-ever baseball season ended on Saturday afternoon, with a 5-0 loss to Plattsburg.  However, the Bulldogs work on the diamond and in the classroom have earned the THS squad postseason honors.

Four members of the Trenton baseball program, pitcher Drew Rorebeck, first baseman Avery Cooksey, third baseman Colton Colston, and outfielder Spencer Harris, have been named to the Class 3, District 16 second team.  

THS, this spring, boasted a 3.05 cumulative grade point average from the 24 members of the baseball program, good for Class 3 Academic All-State recognition.  The 3.05 mark is the 11th best Class 3 GPA in the state.  Licking High School has the top Class 3 baseball GPA at 3.56, followed by Macon (3.50) and Higginsville (3.43).  The Carrollton Trojans have the sixth-highest GPA, tied with Lawson, with both schools at 3.29.  The Lexington Minutemen have the ninth-highest GPA, at 3.15.

The Milan Wildcats baseball program received all-state academic honors in Class 2, putting up a cumulative GPA at 3.18.  The Green City Gophers, at 3.51, have the second-best Class 1 GPA among the baseball programs in Missouri, trailing only LaPlata’s 3.54.

Trenton High School’s Hunter Dugan was named to the Academic Individual All-State Class 3 team.  Four Chillicothe Hornets were named Class 4 Academic All-State, in Austin Murray, Ty Figg, Westley Brandsgaard, and Zach Trout.  

Five Milan Wildcats earned All-Academic recognition in Class 2, with Conner Bankus, Kyle Peterie, Mike Hostetter, Quinn Doak, and Wyatt Bohle on the list. 

In Class 1, four Braymer Bobcats and three Green City Gophers are All-State Academic team members, with Gabe Rogers, Hunter Heussner, Jordan Miller, and Keaton O’Dell honored from Braymer, while Camden Williams, Devin Fields, and Thomas Watt from the Gophers earned spots on the squad.
