The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, after watching postseason rival Penney High School rout South Harrison 15-0 in four innings, scored 10 points in the bottom of the 1st inning, cruising to a 13-0, five inning win over the Lawson Lady Cardinals. Maci Moore led the THS offense with two home runs and five RBI’s, with Chandler Lynch contributed her first career homer and a double, part of a 2 for 2 game for the Lady Bulldogs, now 23-2 on the season.
Ainsley Tolson took the win for Trenton, going five innings of shutout ball, striking out six Lady Cards. On Saturday, Trenton, the #2 seed in Class 2, District 16, will play Penney, the top seed, on the Lady Hornets home field in Hamilton, with a 12 noon first pitch on Hot Country Z 101.7. Trenton will be looking to break a two-game losing streak against Penney, with Hamilton beating THS in last year’s district title game, and coming back this September with a 4-3 victory in regular season play.
The District 16 winner will host a Class 2 sectional on Wednesday night against either Plattsburg or Lathrop, who play for the District 15 championship on Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock.
