Track

The Trenton Middle School track and field teams traveled to Unionville on Monday afternoon, participating in the eight-school GRC East Relays.  The South Harrison boys, with 118 points, and Maysville girls, with 128 points, finished in the top spots, with Trenton in third in both events, as the TMS boys were one point (93 to 94) behind runner-up Milan, while the TMS Lady Bulldogs, with 74 points, finished two points behind the hosts from Putnam County.

For the Trenton girls, Gracyn Rongey had wins in the 1600 meter (6:16) and 800 meter (2:53) races, while finishing third in the triple jump.  Shay Westerhof was third in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, while Katie Markell was runner-up in the 800 meter run and third place in the 1600.  The 4 by 100 and 4 by 400 relay teams both finished in third place.

For the Trenton boys, the 4 by 100 relay team of Ian Elbert, Keegan Brown, Cayson Harper, and Jarek Habelitz took the win with a time of 53.11 seconds.  The 4 by 400 team was second, with Connor Crawford second in three events (triple jump, 800, and 1600 meters).  Keegan Brown was second in the 100 meter hurdles, while Trevor Murphy was second in the shot put and third in the discus.  Tyler Siemer was third in the discus.

Coach Brandon Boswell, noting the one point separation between Trenton and Milan for second place, said, “We under-performed a little bit and it kept us from getting second place.”
