Trenton teams roll to quarterfinal wins in GIT, advance to Friday’s semifinals

The Trenton girls and boys basketball teams each held their opponents scoreless in the first quarter on Tuesday night, as the THS squads rolled to quarterfinal triumphs in the quarterfinal round of the Gallatin Invitatonal Tournament.

The Lady Bulldogs, playing #8 seed Gilman City, cruised to a 78-10 win, with senior guard Ainsley Tolson leading the way for Trenton with an 18 point, four assist game.  Maci Moore had 13 points and six rebounds, Mykah Hurley 12 points and 10 assists, and Lexi Whitaker 10 points and five boards for Trenton, now 2-0 on the season.  The Ladyhawks, dropping to a mark of 0-2, were led by Lindsay Snuffer with five points.

The Trenton boys rebounded from their opening night loss to East Buchanan in a big way, outscoring Hardin-Central 21-0 in the first quarter and hammering the 7th-seeded Bulldogs 61-8.  Three players led Trenton with 11 points each, as Isaac Harris, Carson Burchett, and Jaren Whitney reached that mark.  Max McNabb had 10 points.  

The Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs beat Maysville 49-30, while the Polo boys downed Maysville 67-51 in other first-round action on Tuesday night.

The four other quarterfinals will be contested tonight (Wednesday night), as Braymer’s Lady Bobcats play Winston at 4:30, with the winner advancing to play Trenton on Friday night at 4:30 on Hot Country Z 101.7.  The Winston boys battle Gilman City tonight at 5:45, followed by the Gallatin Lady Bulldogs against Polo at 7 o’clock, and the Gallatin boys against Braymer at 8:15.
