Trenton tennis continues busy week with trip to St. Joseph, 7-2 win over Lafayette

Trenton’s girls tennis team made the first of back-to-back trips to St. Joseph on Tuesday afternoon, meeting the Fighting Irish of Lafayette High School in varsity and junior varsity competition at the Noyes Tennis Complex.  Trenton, in the varsity duel, won seven matches to Lafayette’s two, with the Lady Bulldogs all five matches against the “North Siders” in JV play.

With Trenton winning five of six matches in varsity singles action, most of the matches were fairly one-sided, with Lexi Gott (#1 singles) beating Rowan Davis 8-1.  Other wins were THS came from Mallory Sole (#3 singles), 8-love over Avery Sumner, Alaina Overton (#4 singles) 8-2 over Faith Scheerer, Emilee Lovell, an 8-2 win at #5 singles over Chloe Morris, and at #6 singles, Lydia Leininger downing Kalena Henderson 8-5.  The only singles win for Lafayette was an 8-love sweep at #2 singles for Brooklyn Lorenz over Morgan Dolan.

In doubles play, Lafayette grabbed an 8-4 win at #1 doubles, with Davis and Lorenz doubling up Gott and Dolan.  Trenton rebounded with a pair of 8-3 wins, with Sole/Overton defeating Sumner/Scheerer at #2 doubles, and Lovell and Leininger beating Morris and Henderson in #3 doubles.
