Trenton volleyball gets mid-week momentum, sweeping Penney

The Trenton Lady Bulldog varsity volleyball team earned a three-set win over visiting Penney on Tuesday night, winning the match 25-7, 25-11, 25-11.  Leading the Trenton offense was the trio of Ava Simpson, with an excellent passing night that racked up ten assists, and the front-court duo of Evy McCullough and Lilly Berti, who combined for 13 kills (McCullough seven and Berti six).

McCullough added four aces from the back line, with Berti matching that with four aces of her own.  Other THS varsity statistics included Makezee Epperson with three kills and two aces, Jessa Shipley three digs, Olivia Roberts with three aces and two kills, and Ally Yoder with three digs.

The Trenton JV earned a straight set win over Penney 25-6, 25-11.  Ally Yoder had 11 aces for THS, with Kaylea Boyle adding six aces, Abby Simpson three assists, Juliet Schmadeke three kills, and Nautica Dowling two aces.

Trenton’s busy return from the team’s recent bout with coronavirus continues tonight (Wednesday night), with the Bulldog JV hosting Wellington-Napoleon at 5 o’clock, followed by the varsity match.  The varsity match will be broadcast live on KTTN FM 92.3, KTTNSports.com, and KTTN from the Tune-In Radio app.
