Vanderbilt picks up Akron, Ohio commitment

The Southeastern Conference’s Vanderbilt Commodores picked up a verbal commitment from A.J. Campbell from Copley High School in Akron, Ohio on Thursday, with Campbell announcing the news of his commitment via Twitter.

Campbell is rated a three-star at the outside linebacker position by 247Sports.  

As a junior, Campbell made 41 total tackles with 12 for loss and four sacks in 10 games. He also led Copley with six receiving touchdowns and added 24 receptions for 271 yards, both second on the team.

With Campbell’s commitment, Vanderbilt moves from No. 76 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings to No. 73 and jumps Ole Miss in the SEC.  He is the 11th commitment for Vandy in the 2021 cycle.
