Wildcats survive slow start, advance to Marceline semifinals with win over Schuyler County

The Milan Wildcats, tied at 26 at halftime of their Marceline Tournament quarterfinal against Schuyler County, were having their unbeaten record strongly challenged by the Rams.  In the second half, Milan dominated, cruising to victory #11 of the season, 62-43.  The victory sends the ‘Cats into a Thursday night semifinal (8:30 PM) against rival Putnam County, a 60-40 winner on Tuesday evening against Glasgow.  The showdown between the Midgets and Wildcats will be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3.  Schuyler County and Glasgow drop into a boy’s consolation semifinal on Thursday evening at 5:30.

In girl’s quarterfinal action from Marceline, the host Lady Tigers slipped by Schuyler County 40-39, as Kenzie Stahl scored 14 points in leading Marceline to the win.  The #1 seeded Tigerettes of Macon High School walloped Putnam County in the opening game of the tournament, 59-20, moving Macon into a semifinal with Marceline, Thursday night at 7 o’clock.

Putnam County’s Lady Midgets will battle Schuyler County in a 4 o’clock consolation semifinal on Thursday afternoon.

In tonight’s (Wednesday night’s) quarterfinals from Marceline, the Meadville Eagles and South Shelby Cardinals meet in a doubleheader to start the session, with the girls game at 4 o’clock followed by a 5:30 boys contest.  The South Shelby girls and Meadville boys have #2 seeds in the tournament.  At 7 o’clock, the #3 seed Glasgow girls take on the Milan Lady Wildcats, with the Marceline boys challenging #3 seed Macon at 8:30 tonight.
