#1 ranked Redbirds beat Pattonsburg to advance to Osborn title game

Sophomore Jacob Lewis had 23 points while Griffen Harris added 22, as the Winston Redbirds claimed a 68-20 victory over Pattonsburg on Thursday night, moving the newly-ranked #1 boys team in the state (MBCA Class 1) into the championship game of the Osborn Invitational Tournament.

Winston, now a perfect 14-0 on the season, will play Stewartsville in the title game at Osborn High School, to be played on Friday night at 6 o’clock.  Stewartsville claimed a hard-fought semifinal win over the Polo Panthers, 44-41, as Denton Yager had a game-high 20 points for the Cardinals.  Polo and Pattonsburg will play in the boys third place game on Friday night at 7:30 at Stewartsville High School.

In the girl’s semifinals from Thursday night, the top seeded DeKalb Lady Tigers routed Polo 52-16, as Morgan Parsons scored 20 points for DeKalb. In the other girls semifinal, Stewartsville outscored Pattonsburg 17-11 in a decisive fourth quarter that gave the #3 seed a 43-37 win over the Lady Panthers.  Britanie Middaugh scored 11 points to lead PHS.  The DeKalb vs. Stewartsville girls championship game will be Friday night at 7:30 at Osborn High School.  Polo will meet Pattonsburg in the girls third place game at 7:30 from Stewartsville.

The Friday night action from the Osborn Tournament begins with the consolation finals, as the Osborn girls play on their home floor, taking on Winston at 4:30, while the DeKalb boys battle Union Star at Stewartsville at the same time (4:30).
