Arkansas, Pittman keep recruiting momentum with Bridges and Russell commitments

Selman Bridges, a highly sought-after four-star cornerback, announced his commitment to the University of Arkansas on Friday evening. Bridges, ranked as the No. 75 prospect nationally and the No. 8 cornerback by the 247Sports Composite, chose the Razorbacks over several top programs, including Oregon, USC, TCU, LSU, Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.

The addition of Bridges marks a significant recruiting victory for Arkansas, as he would become their highest-ranked signee since five-star defensive lineman McTelvin Agim, who is currently playing for the Indianapolis Colts, in the Class of 2016.

Arkansas has been quietly building an impressive Class of 2024, with Bridges now becoming the ninth blue-chip recruit to join the class. On the same day, four-star running back Braylen Russell from Benton, Arkansas, also committed to the Razorbacks. Russell, ranked as the No. 307 prospect nationally and the No. 25 running back, adds to the growing momentum of the recruiting class.

The Razorbacks have had a productive summer on the recruiting front, adding seven commitments since mid-June. This follows a successful April, during which they secured commitments from six prospects, including blue-chip recruits Charleston Collins (defensive end), Courtney Crutchfield (wide receiver), Julius Pope (athlete), and KJ Jackson (quarterback).

The fact that Bridges hails from Texas is also significant for Arkansas. The Razorbacks have found success in the Lone Star State during this recruiting cycle, with Bridges being the fourth Texan commit. Head coach Sam Pittman and his staff have made a strong statement by securing Bridges’ commitment and establishing a solid foundation for their future recruiting efforts in a state soon to be even-more SEC-centric with the 2024 addition of the University of Texas to the powerhouse league.  The move will likely bring a yearly return of the Razorbacks spirited rivalry with the Longhorns, going back to the schools shared time in the old Southwest Conference.
