Arm injury shelves LSU quarterback Brennan

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan suffered an injury to his left arm on Monday, placing his availability for the Tigers 2021 season in jeopardy.  Brennan’s injury opens the door for rising sophomore Max Johnson, who stood out late in an otherwise forgettable season for LSU in 2020.

Head coach Ed Orgeron described the injury as “severe and requiring surgery, with a timeline yet to be determined”.

Brennan played in three games last season, before suffering a shoulder injury in a 45-41 loss at Missouri in mid-October.  He missed the remainder of the 5-5 season.  Johnson appeared in six games, and led the Tigers to a 37-34 upset win at Florida, and added five touchdowns the following week against Ole Miss.

LSU’s other quarterback in the starting derby, T.J. Finley, transferred from SEC rival Auburn last spring, and is immediately able to play thanks to the SEC’s intra-conference transfer ruling.
