The news from the athletics department at the University of Missouri continues to flow out of Columbia, and most of the recent headlines remain negative.  On Wednesday afternoon, less than 24 hours before the start of fall camp for the MU football team, team spokesman Chad Moller said defensive end Walter Brady and defensive tackle Harold Brantley have been dismissed by Head Coach Barry Odom.

Brady, a freshman All-American from last season, was cited for a violation of undisclosed team policies, while Brantley’s dismissal involved academics, as he failed to fulfill those expectations.  Brantley missed all of last season recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident in Columbia from last summer.

Despite the moves, Missouri should still be strong along its defensive front, with five lineman with starting experience returning for the Tigers in 2016.

The start of camp as Missouri should help to focus the Tigers on West Virginia, as MU opens the season on September 3rd, in Morgantown, in the school’s highest-profile opener in over a decade.
