Croy, Simmons tie for medalist honors; Penney Hornets win KCI title, at dual golf event in Lawson

Golf

The KCI Conference boy’s golf tournament and Lawson Invitational Tournament were contested over the 18 holes of the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson on Thursday, with the Penney High School Hornets winning the KCI title with a score of 341.  However, that score would not be strong enough for the Lawson Tournament title, with Gallatin’s 318 earning that honor for the Grand River Conference’s Bulldogs.

The KCI individual champion was Hamilton’s Ethan Green with a score of 76, as Hamilton edged Lawson by a final score of 341 to 343.  Other scores in the KCI portion of the tournament were Mid-Buchanan at 347, Plattsburg 353, East Buchanan 448, and Lathrop at 477.

Gallatin senior Jett Simmons and Trenton senior Lathan Croy shared the Lawson individual tourney title, with identical rounds of two-under par 70.  Green’s KCI winning round of 76 was good for third, with South Harrison’s Austin Lasher in third place at 78.

The Trenton Bulldogs, with a team score of 378, finished in 9th place.  In addition to Croy’s 70, other THS scores were 100 for Lucas Clark, 102 from Mason Owen, 106 from Max McNabb, and 117 from Gavin Roeder.  Gallatin’s tournament winning score included, in addition to Simmons’ 70, and 80 for Logan Burns, 82 for Gabe Cole, 86 for Colin Beck, and 88 shot by Haden Bradford.
