Cubs/Cardinals head for London in June ’23

MLB

One of the best rivalries in Major League Baseball is headed overseas, at least for two games, in the 2023 season, as the St. Louis Cardinals will battle the Chicago Cubs on June 24-25, 2023 at London’s Olympic Stadium in the British capital city.

The Cards and Cubs were scheduled to play in London in 2020, but those plans, along with over half of the season, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  MLB first played in London in 2019, when the Yankees beat Boston in back-to-back games.

The international trip will not be the first for either of the National League franchises in St. Louis and Chicago, as the Cardinals played the Reds in Mexico in 2019, while the Cubs played the Mets in Tokyo in 2000, and the Montreal Expos for three games in Puerto Rico in 2003.

Major League Baseball has additional plans for overseas games, with regular season contests back in London for 2024 and 2026, games in Paris in 2025, annual games in Mexico City from 2023 to 2026, a game in Asia in 2024, and a trip back to Tokyo in 2025.
