With the season opener against Pattonsburg quickly on the approach, delayed from Tuesday to Wednesday due to wet conditions, the excitement of softball season at Gilman City comes with renewed enthusiasm for the Lady Hawks, as coach Holly Preston returns a good core of upperclassmen talent, including a #1 pitcher, along with a freshman class that could get the program moving toward the upper half of the HDC Conference, sooner than later.

Following the airing of the interview, Gilman City started the 2020 season with a win, taking a 2-1 victory over Pattonsburg on Wednesday night. The Ladyhawks open HDC play tonight (Thursday night) at Grundy R-5, before hosting Pattonsburg on Tuesday of next week.
