GRC champion Pattonsburg, Southwest Livingston place three each on All-State first-team offense

High School Football

The Grand River Conference champion Pattonsburg Panthers have placed three players from their record-shattering offense onto the 2019 All-State 8-Man football team, announced by the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

Senior quarterback Steven Willhite, with 5424 passing yards, and a national record of 112 touchdowns, 93 of those through the air, was named the all-state quarterback.  In addition to his passing prowess, Willhite rushed for 751 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Willhite’s receiving tandem of Dakota Eaton and Patrick Cowley, both Pattonsburg seniors, were named all-state, as was Southwest Livingston senior quarterback Mack Anderson, as the all-purpose selection, with Anderson’s teammate, Chase Neptune, named from Southwest Livingston as an all-state receiver.  Jaeden Sears made it three all-state selections for the Wildcats on the offensive side of the football, as an offensive lineman selection.

Mound City won the state title on November 30th over Southwest Livingston at Faurot Field in Columbia, one week after the Panthers beat Drexel and Southwest Livingston outlasted Pattonsburg in the state semifinals.
