High School Basketball

Wintry and icy weather conditions have led to the postponement of the HDC Conference Tournament semifinals for both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The area, until the noon hour on Thursday, is under an ice storm warning, with up to 0.30 inches of ice possible overnight.

Both Mercer teams, both Grundy R-5 teams, and both North Harrison teams are among the squads in the semifinal round, along with the unbeaten, #2 ranked (Class 1 MBCA) Winston Redbirds, and the East Harrison Lady Bobcats.

Officials at Grundy County High School in Galt will attempt to play the semifinals on Thursday, with the Mercer boys battling North Harrison at 4 o’clock, followed by the Mercer vs. North Harrison girls game at 5:20.  The Winston boys take on Grundy R-5 at 6:40, with the Grundy R-5 girls challenging East Harrison at 8 o’clock.
