Lady Pirates drop to #12, NCMC men remain at #20 in latest NJCAA poll

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) released its latest Division Two college basketball national poll on Monday afternoon, with a mid-week loss at Highland Community College costing North Central Missouri College’s women three spots, as NCMC dropped to #12, while the Pirate men, on a positive streak heading into winter break, sitting at 10-4 and holding at #20 in the rankings.

The Lady Pirates had reached as high as #4 in the poll coming into December, but dropped five spots in the December 4th poll after a double-digit loss at #2 ranked Johnson County.  Nine nights later, the Lady Pirates loss at Highland, but have rebounded nicely, but in offensive productivity and results, with a Saturday win over one-loss Allen County followed by a Tuesday night win at John Wood.  Two more games remain for the North Central ladies, both on the campus of Palm Beach State College this weekend, with a Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon test leading to winter break.

The Pirate men have ripped off victories against #2 ranked Johnson County, Highland, and Allen County, improving to 10-4.  In Saturday’s victory over the Red Devils, both Tyler King and Isaiah Reams scored 30 points for the Pirates.  Despite the success, North Central failed to move up in the national poll.
