Mizzou adds Canisius grad transfer in hopes of improving outside shooting

Canisius College (Buffalo, NY) guard Kassius Robertson has announced, via Instagram, his intention to transfer to the University of Missouri, with one season of eligibility to play with new coach Cuonzo Martin and the Tigers in 2017-2018.  Robertson chose MU as his transfer destination over Georgia Tech, after visiting both campuses within the past week.

Robertson is from Toronto, and is expected to improve a Missouri shooting game that was woeful in the final season under Kim Anderson, shooting a program all-time low 30.4 percent from 3-point range.  In his junior season at Canisius, Robertson, in averaging 16.1 points per game, shot 41 percent from 3-point range.

With only one additional scholarship for Missouri next season, more massaging of the roster could be forth-coming by Coach Martin and his staff.  The Tigers, bolstered by the addition of National Player of the Year Michael Porter Jr., are still recruiting some of the top players in the country, including former Illinois signee Jeremiah Tilmon of East St. Louis, Illinois; five-star small forward Kevin Knox of Tampa, Florida; and Michael Porter Jr.’s younger brother Jontay, a 6’11” forward that is considering reclassifying to become eligible for Mizzou this fall.
