Mizzou opens Italy trip with victory

The University of Missouri Tigers played LCC International University on Sunday, in the first game of a foreign tour of Italy.  The Tigers emerged with an 80-68 victory in the game played at the Palazzetto Arena Altero Felici.  Three more games await MU on the trip, including Tuesday’s 11:30 AM clash with BC Silute in Montcatini.

The freshman tandem of Frankie Hughes and Willie Jackson sparked Mizzou on Sunday, with both players scoring 18 points and combining for 11 rebounds.  Sophomore guard K.J. Walton added 10 points for the Tigers, while senior forward Russell Woods and sophomore forward Kevin Puryear each grabbed six rebounds.

Missouri was scheduled to tour the Vatican City on Monday, before traveling to Montecatini, approximately three hours north of Rome.
