The Kentucky Wildcats used a consistent rushing attack, buoyed by 122 yards and two touchdowns from Benny Snell, in defeating the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night in Lexington 40-34.

Missouri tied the contest at 34 with 13:46 remaining in the fourth quarter on a 75 yard touchdown strike from Drew Lock to Johnathan Johnson.  That pass followed a 58 yard connection from Lock to Emanuel Hall and a 50 yard score from Lock to J’Mon Moore, as Mizzou showed flashes of the offensive firepower shown in a Week 1 win over FCS opponent Missouri State.

Lock finished with 355 yards passing for the Tigers, now 1-4 overall and 0-3 in SEC play.

Kentucky kicker Austin MacGinnis played a key role in the victory for the Wildcats at Kroger Field, hitting field goals of 53 and 20 yards in the final quarter.  Despite the loss, Missouri’s improvement from SEC losses to South Carolina and Auburn, and an ugly non-conference loss to Purdue, was evident, as MU outgained UK 568 yards to 486.  Junior Stephen Johnson led the Wildcat offense with 298 yards passing a pair of touchdowns.

Missouri travels to unbeaten Georgia this Saturday to take on the Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium.  That game, scheduled for a 6 o’clock kick, will be broadcast on KTTN FM 92.3, with pregame at 4 from Athens.  Missouri’s game with Idaho, scheduled for Saturday, October 21st in Columbia, will be an 11 o’clock kickoff on the SEC Network, with 9 AM pregame on KTTN FM 92.3.  However, due to coverage of the Missouri Day Festival parade that morning, KTTN will join the network’s coverage in progress following local parade coverage.

Kentucky, now 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the SEC, has this Saturday off.  The Wildcats will play at Mississippi State on Saturday, October 21st at 3 o’clock on the SEC Network.
