Mizzou volleyball wins SEC opener in three sets over South Carolina

The Missouri Tigers were dominant on Wednesday night, in claiming a 25-12, 25-19, 25-16 sweep of the visiting South Carolina Gamecocks in SEC volleyball action at the Hearnes Center in Columbia.

Mizzou tallied 45 kills against the USC frontline, with senior standout Carly Kan recording 10 kills to go with 14 digs.  Lee’s Summit native, senior Alexa Ethridge led Mizzou’s defense with 18 digs, and redshirt junior Melanie Crow, a native of Wildwood, Missouri, added 12 kills for the Tigers.  

The win improves Mizzou to 5-0 all-time in SEC season-opening matches.

Mizzou continues SEC play on Sunday afternoon at the Hearnes Center, welcoming the Ole Miss Rebels to the Columbia campus.  First serve is scheduled for 12 noon, with the match broadcast live nationally on ESPNU.
