The Chillicothe Mudcats dominated the middle innings, and rode eight innings of three-hit pitching from Josh Guerra, in a 10-2 win over Sedalia on Thursday night, in a MINK League contest played at Shaffer Park.

Chillicothe scored three runs in the 3rd to grab a mid-game lead, then put the Bombers away with two runs in the 4th and five in the fifth.  Sedalia scored its only run of the night off Guerra in the 6th inning, before adding a 9th inning tally for the final margin.

For the Mudcats, Gawley, Kayhill, McWhorter, and Jackson all had two base hits, with Gawley and Jackson scoring two runs each.

The win for Chillicothe is the second in as many night, as on Wednesday, the Chillicothe 9 pounded the Kansas City Monarchs in non-league play, 13-5, as Caleb Bounds earned the victory with five effective innings.

Chillicothe is now 10-5 on the season, and 8-4 in the MINK League, in a virtual tie with 7-3 St. Joseph for the lead in the MINK League’s Northern Division.

The Mustangs, on Thursday night, swept a doubleheader from visiting Ozark, winning at Phil Welch Stadium by score of 3-2 and 6-1.  In other MINK League finals, Nevada won at Clarinda 7-6.

The Mudcats will enjoy a rare Friday night off tonight, while the rest of the league is busy, as Sedalia visits Branson, St. Joseph hosts Ozark, Nevada travels to Joplin, and Omaha is at Clarinda.
