St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tyler O’Neill continued his hot streak with a four-hit night that included his 18th home run of the season, with Adam Wainwright grabbing his 10th victory of the season, in a 4-2 triumph at Busch Stadium over the Kansas City Royals.
Paul Goldschmidt homered for the Cardinals as St. Louis snapped a three-game losing streak. Ryan O’Hearn had an RBI triple for the Royals, who played without catcher Salvador Perez, who stayed at the team hotel with a “non-COVID related” illness.
Paul DeJong had an RBI single in the 2nd inning. For the Royals, southpaw Mike Minor was saddled with the loss, falling to 8-10, giving up four runs on seven hits over five innings with seven strikeouts.
