Panther Power! 4-0 start sends Pattonsburg to head of the 8-man poll

High School Football

For the first time since having football re-established at the school with the move into the Grand River Conference earlier this decade, the Pattonsburg Panthers have been named the #1 8-man team in the state in this week’s media poll.  Pattonsburg, coming off a semifinal appearance a year ago, is using a dominant offense to start 2019 at 4-0, including a win against King City last Friday night.  Meanwhile, last week’s #1 team, Mound City, suffered a home upset in Week 4 to Southwest Livingston.

Here is the 8-man state poll, released Monday, September 23rd:

Pattonsburg (7) – 70

East Atchison – 59

Mound City – 51

North Andrew – 47

Worth County – 45

Southwest Livingston – 42

Orrick – 19

Appleton City – 16

North Shelby – 11

Rock Port – 11

In 11-man, there were few changes to the poll this week, although notable was Gallatin, while remaining in 9th place in Class 1, now holding that spot all by themselves, as Adrian, in a tie last week with Gallatin, dropped to #10.
