Postseason arrived for girl’s golf on Monday morning, with area teams headed for the Green Hills Course in Chillicothe, as the Lady Hornets hosted the Class 1, District 6 tournament.
Chillicothe won the event with a team score of 389, advancing the Lady Hornets entire team to the Section 3 tournament, while joining Chillicothe will be the runner-up Kirksville Lady Tigers, as CHS shot 389 to a 395 from Kirksville. Other scores were 406 from Brookfield, Cameron at 444, Schuyler County 448, Gallatin 452, LaPlata 479, Southwest Livingston 493, and Penney High School’s 526.
The individual District 6 champion is Samantha Cornelius of Hamilton, with a winning tally of 2-over par. Abby Boyer of Kirksville was second at 8-over, with Trenton’s Werthen Gass, at 10 over par, in third place. Trenton’s Maci Henson advanced through to the Section 3 tournament, along with Gass, shooting a round of 35 over par, good for a 17th place tie. Chillicothe’s top score of 17 over par was good for fourth place for Hallie Jones. Brookfield’s top score was a 21 over for sixth place Ally Jo Johnson, while Putnam County’s Delaney Munden shot 22 over for 7th place, and Chillicothe’s Maddie Lamp a 25 over par, for a 10th place tie.
Here are the final standings from Class 1, District 6, with players in BOLD advancing to the Class 1, Section 3 meet next week at the Heritage Hills Course in Huntsville, MO.
