Princeton gets non-conference road sweep at North Harrison

High School Basketball

The Princeton girls and boys picked up victories in Eagleville on Tuesday night, defeating the host North Harrison Shamrocks in a non-conference varsity doubleheader.  The Lady Tigers won the opener, improving to 3-2 with a hard-earned 47-37 win.  The Lady Tigers jumped on North Harrison early, leading 9-2 after one quarter, and staved off a series of Shamrock runs to get the road win, outscoring North Harrison in a high-scoring final quarter, 21-16.

Payton Goodin led Princeton with 16 points while Jaelyn Thomas had 15.  For the Lady Shamrocks, Payton Craig had 18 points, with Brandy Rivet adding 10.

The boys game was a run-away in favor of the Tigers, as Preston Thomas tallied a game-high 30 points, leading PHS to a 87-45 win in the Shamrocks gym.  Andrew Smith added 15 for Princeton, with Blaine Millburn contributing 11 points to the win.  North Harrison had balanced scoring, just not enough scoring to stay within striking distance of the Tigers, as Brett Emig had 11 points, while Logan Craig, Gavin Garrett, and Collin Castleberry all hit the 10 point plateau.

Princeton’s girls and boys continue their early December road swing in Mercer on Friday night, playing the in-county rival Cardinals in a varsity doubleheader.  The girls game at 6, and boys game at 7:30, will both be aired on KTTN FM 92.3 and KTTNSports.com.
