Richman signs first recruit in new position, as Mexico’s Robnett inks with Lady Pirates

NCMC Softball

Mackenzie Robnett of Mexico High School has become the first recruit in the softball class of 2017 at North Central Missouri College.  Robnett will be both a pitcher and hitter for NCMC in 2018 and 2019, after racking up a 13-5 record and a 2.30 ERA in her senior season and MHS, in addition to a .533 batting average (.618 with runners in scoring position), 32 RBI’s, and 24 runs scored.

Her play for the past two months earned Robnett second-team all-state status.  New Lady Pirate softball coach Steve Richman said of the signing, “We are very excited to sign a pitcher/player the caliber of Mackenzie. She will immediately make our team better both as a pitcher and hitter. She has good velocity and moves the ball well. Not only is she a great player but is also a great person.  We want high character players on our team and Mackenzie fits that perfectly.  I am excited to see how good she will become as a Pirate.”

Richman, the long-time men’s basketball coach at North Central, resigned that job last spring, with assistant coach Jeremy Esry taking the head coaching job.  Richman replaced departing softball coach Megan Cairns will remaining as the school’s athletic director.
