Royals’ Eibner heads to 15 day DL, Gee optioned, Moylan and Fuentes recalled from Omaha

MLB

The Kansas City Royals announced today that the club has recalled outfielder Reymond Fuentes and right-handed pitcher Peter Moylan from Omaha (AAA).  Both players will be in uniform for tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.  In corresponding moves, the club has placed outfielder Brett Eibner on the 15-day disabled list (left ankle sprain) and optioned right-handed pitcher Dillon Gee to Omaha.  Eibner is eligible to be reinstated on June 16.

Fuentes, 25, opened the season with Kansas City, hitting .238 with three RBI in his first six games.  He was hitting .302 with two doubles, six stolen bases and 10 runs scored in 17 games at Omaha this year.

Moylan, 37, was also with the Royals earlier this month, going 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA and seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings.  He was optioned on Sunday, but is able to be recalled due to the injury to Eibner.
