The Gallatin Lady Bulldogs rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to win the Gallatin Invitational Tournament title on Saturday afternoon, 45-35, taking home the championship hardware for the first time since 2008.
Shooting guard Kallie Salmon led GHS with 25 points, with AnnaBelle Ball adding 14. Trenton built its halftime lead on the strength of the driving ability and scoring touch of junior guard Mirena King, who led the Lady Bulldogs with 17 points.
Maysville, for the first time since the first-ever GIT event in 1977, won the boys tournament, improving to 3-0 on the young season with a 59-52 win over Braymer.
Trenton won the boys third place game over Polo by a score of 62-50, improving to 2-3 on the season while dropping Polo to 2-2.
Kiefer Tolson led THS with 21 points, with Gabe Novak adding 15 and Maverick Sole 11 points. Maverick Gentry had a game-high 24 points for Polo with Gage Gilbert adding 10 points.
Trenton will begin the home portion of its 2023-2024 season this week, hosting Marceline (KGOZ FM 101.7) on Tuesday night and Chillicothe (KGOZ FM 101.7) on Friday night. Girls games will tip at 6 with the boys games to follow both nights.
