Zeke Mayo, former South Dakota State guard, has announced his commitment to Kansas, sharing the news on social media. Mayo’s decision comes after an impressive season with the Jackrabbits, where he averaged 18.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 39.1 percent from 3-point range. His performance earned him the No. 12 spot in The Athletic’s college basketball transfer portal rankings.

Kansas faced various challenges this past season, notably the absence of a proficient backcourt scorer. The team experienced its worst offensive performance in the Bill Self era, ranking 59th in the country in adjusted offensive rating, according to KenPom. Mayo’s addition addresses this pressing need, as he brings a dynamic scoring ability, particularly as one of the best pull-up shooters in college basketball.

As the Summit League Player of the Year, Mayo led SDSU to the NCAA Tournament, proving greatest proficiency as a pull-up shooter, in combination with his finishing ability at the rim and floater, making him a multifaceted offensive weapon.
