The Trenton junior varsity girls remained unbeaten on Tuesday night, rolling out to a 24-4 lead after one quarter and beating the visiting Chillicothe Lady Hornets by a score of 55-38.  In the first frame, Trenton freshman Maci Moore scored 12 of her game-high 18 points.  Trenton’s lead was 36-12 at the half, and the Lady Bulldogs, despite being outscored 24-18 over the two quarters, were able to cruise home to the win, the team’s 10th in a row this season.

McKayla Blackburn and Haley Kidd, the sophomore backcourt duo for Coach John Cowling, each scored 14 points for THS.  Kiley Kirkpatrick had 11 points and Brooke Horton 8 for CHS.

The boys game, despite the efforts of the host Bulldogs, tipped to the Hornets, 48-39.  A low-scoring first half ended with Chillicothe holding a 17-12 advantage, with the Hornets pushing the lead to double digits in the third quarter.  A fourth quarter push by Trenton cut the Hornets lead to 3, but never closer, as Chillicothe closed out the win.

Peyton Forck had a game-high 24 points for Chillicothe, with Mason Baxter added 7.  For Trenton, Dalton Burchett had 10 points, with Gavin Roeder and Joey Lynch each scoring eight.  Despite the setback, Coach Kameron Cool said his Bulldogs “showed a lot of fight”, adding he is “loving how hard we’re competing right now”.
