Trenton sophomore earns Academic All-State wrestling honors

Trenton High School sophomore Mason Rongey has received the Academic All-State award from the Missouri Wrestling Association, recognizing his work on the mat and in the classroom.

The award is considered of the state of Missouri’s most prestigious.  Recipients must have a state qualifier, combined with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Other members of the Trenton wrestling team were honored at the team’s postseason banquet on Thursday, March 16th.  Senior Hunter McAtee broke the school record for most pins in a career with 116, smashing the previous mark of 97.  With a career record of 165-20, McAtee has the third most career wins in program history.

State champion Sam Gibson was recognized for breaking the school record for falls in a single season with 37.  Sophomore Logan Wilson won the program’s “Most Improved” award.
