The Trenton Lady Bulldogs had steady and strong play on Monday night, defeating Carrollton 25-14, 25-19 in the opening round of Class 2, District 15 volleyball competition at Lexington High School.
For THS, Karli Provorse paced a balanced offensive attack with four kills, three aces, and four blocks. Melea Farmer had three digs, Teresa Yoder eight digs, Laura Carlson five digs, and Saedee Jackson contributed eight digs and three blocks.
In other first round action from Lexington, Lafayette County swept Brookfield in two sets, while Lexington beat Penney in two sets.
In the semifinal round on Wednesday night, #4 seed Trenton will take on St. Paul Lutheran at 5 o’clock, followed by Lafayette County against Lexington at 6. The winners meet in the championship match, Wednesday night at 7.
In District 15’s “sister district”, Lawson High School is hosting District 16 play, with three two sets to zero sweeps on Monday night, as Plattsburg downed East Buchanan, Mid-Buchanan took down South Harrison, and Lawson beat Lathrop.
In the Wednesday night semifinals, top-seed Bishop LeBlond plays Plattsburg at 5 o’clock, with Mid-Buchanan battling Lawson at 6:15. The winners play at 7:45 for the District 16 title.
