Trenton’s Gilham and Gott win third place medals at individual tennis districts

The Trenton High School doubles team of Emma Gilham and Lexi Gott went 2-1 on Saturday, taking third place in individual districts, moved indoors to the Genesis Courts in St. Joseph due to the damp weather conditions.  

Gilham and Gott, in opening round action, took down Bailey Bell and Reese Robertson of Bishop LeBlond by a 6-2, 6-3 final score, moving into the semifinals.  In the semifinals, Trenton’s duo lost the opening set against Sydney Brown and Kally Horn of Benton 6-4, but rallied to claim the middle set 6-2.  The Benton side took the final set 6-3 to advance.  

In the third place match, Gilham and Gott beat Chiara Ghera and Cayren Barnett of Maryville in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, winning third place medals and All-District honors in the process.

The Trenton doubles team of Kendall Crowley lost in opening round play to Maggie Church and Natalie Johnston of Benton by a score of 5-7, 6-2, 1-6.

Trenton’s singles entries struggled to straight set defeats in St. Joseph, with Latorrie Johnson falling to Maryville’s Addison Hall, 1-6, 2-6, while Elle Neal of the Lady Bulldogs lost to Megan Schuster of Savannah, 2-6, 4-6.
