Trenton’s Owen wins 220 pound championship at Marceline, Bulldogs finish 7th in Saturday tournament

The Trenton High School wrestlers had one champion and two second-place finishers in the A Pool of Saturday’s Marceline Tournament.  Mason Owen pinned all three of his opponents in winning the 220 pound class.  Jadan Whitney, at 195 pounds, and Lucas Clark, at 160 pounds, each placed second in the A Pool.

Trenton’s top finishers in the B Pool were Mark Trump, who pinned all three of his opponents in winning the 182 pound division, and Nick Wattenbarger, who was second at 170 pounds.

Trenton, as a team, finished in 7th place with 20 points.  Brookfield won the Marceline Tournament with a total of 46 points, followed by the host Tigers with 39.  Richmond was third at 35, followed by Mid-Buchanan’s 30, Lawson’s 28, and Lexington’s total of 26.

Centralia followed Trenton in 8th place, with a tie between Lafayette County (Higginsville) and Rock Port for 9th position, trailed by the Macon Tigers and Carrollton Trojans.

Trenton will travel to Gallatin High School for a Grand River Conference triangular with Gallatin and South Harrison on Tuesday night, with action starting at 6 o’clock in Gallatin.
