The Milan Wildcats, in action broadcast Thursday night on KTTN FM 92.3, dismantled the Green City Gophers, with an 80-33 triumph that moves #1 ranked (MBCA Class 2) Milan into the championship game of the Milan Tournament, Saturday night at 8:30 against the Linn County Mustangs (on KTTN-FM 92.3).  Milan has won two games in their yearly event by a combined score of 156-49 this week.  Linn County, in moving into the Milan final, defeated Brashear in pool play, 78-49, as the Mustangs finished 2-0 in Pool 1 competition, having beaten Novinger on Monday night (74-43).

The Milan Lady Wildcats, coming off an overtime loss to Green City in pool play on Monday night, took out their frustrations on #6 seed Bucklin-Macon County, hammering the Lady Bulldogs in an 82-24 win, also broadcast on KTTN.  The win sends Milan into the third place game, originally scheduled for Friday night against Putnam County (5:30 PM), but postponed due to weather, and rescheduled for a later date.

All of Friday night’s games from Milan High School were postponed due to weather, affecting the girls consolation final between Linn County and Bucklin-Macon County, the boy’s consolation final between Brashear and Putnam County, and the Putnam-Milan showdown for the girls third place hardware.

As of 2 o’clock on Friday afternoon, the championship games and boys third place game were scheduled to played as originally scheduled on Saturday night, sending Novinger against Green City for boys third place at 5:30, with the Green City Lady Gophers playing Brashear in the girls title game at 7 o’clock, followed by the boys championship game (KTTN) with Milan and Linn County at 8:30.

On Wednesday night, in consolation semifinal action, Linn County’s Lady Mustangs beat Novinger 48-27, while the Putnam County Midgets handled the Bucklin-Macon County Bulldogs 63-30.
