Princeton Lady Tigers, seeded #6, to seek first-round upset at Class 2, District 16 tournament

The Princeton girls basketball team, playing its best basketball of the season with a young and talented group of student-athletes, will be a dangerous #6 seed, as Class 2, District 16 was seeded and bracketed on Wednesday.  Mid-Buchanan High School in Faucett will host the tournament, running from Monday, February 20th to Saturday, February 25th.

Princeton’s quarterfinal opponent, at 8:30 PM on Monday, February 20th, will be the GRC Western Division champion Stanberry Lady Bulldogs, who have the #3 seed for the tournament.  That game will be the final game of four quarterfinals to be played on that Monday evening, with #1 seed Mid-Buchanan playing Maysville at 4:30, Plattsburg playing East Atchison (Tarkio-Fairfax) in the 4 vs. 5 matchup at 5:50, and the #2 seeded Gallatin Lady Bulldogs taking on Polo at 7:10.

Girls semifinals will be at 5:30 and 7:00 on the night of Wednesday, February 22nd, with the Class 2, District 16 girls championship game slated for Friday, February 24th at 6 PM.

The Princeton boys have a #5 seed, drawing a first-round “Battle of Tigers” with Plattsburg on Tuesday, February 21st at 5:50 PM.  That will be the second game of the four-game slate, following Stanberry against Polo in the #1 vs. #8 seed duel at 4:30.  The late games from Mid-Buchanan on the 21st will feature #2 seed Mid-Buchanan against Gallatin at 7:10 and East Atchison taking on Maysville at 8:30.  

The boys semifinals will be Thursday, February 23rd at 5:30 and 7 o’clock, with the Class 2, District 16 title game from Mid-Buchanan High School on Saturday, February 25th at 1:00 PM.
