Berwanger’s 30 lead Tigers to Gilman City Tourney quarterfinal win

Princeton High School senior Calvin Berwanger scored 30 points, leading the Tigers to a 79-66 win over the East Harrison Bobcats on Monday night, in boys quarterfinal action from the Gilman City Tournament.  Clayton Sweetin had 17 points for Princeton, now 11-7 on the season.  Blaine Millburn had 15 points.  For the Bobcats, Ethan Claycomb totaled 26 points in the loss, dropping East Harrison to 7-11.

Northeast Nodaway will play Princeton in the boys semifinal round (Thursday at 5:45 PM), after the Blue Jays cruised to a victory against Tri-County, 79-29.  The ‘Jays led 24-9 after the first quarter and 52-19 at halftime, with Dylan Mildfeldt scored a game-high 21 points.

Tonight (Tuesday night) from Gilman City, top-seeded Pattonsburg plays Union Star in a 5:45 boys quarterfinal, with North Harrison playing the host Gilman City Hawks at 8:15, in a rematch of Friday night’s game from Eagleville, won by the Shamrocks.

On the girl’s side of the Gilman City Tournament, East Harrison beat Tri-County by a final score of 37-28, while Northeast Nodaway was a 56-24 win over Gilman City.  The Ladyhawks, in the loss, had 13 points from Megan Cottrell.

In girl’s quarterfinal action tonight (Tuesday night), the top-seeded Princeton Lady Tigers will play Union Star at 4:30, with the #2 seed North Harrison Lady Shamrocks battling Pattonsburg at 7.
