The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, coming off a hard-fought 5-4 defeat on Monday night to Maryville, played another school out of the Midland Empire Conference on Tuesday, emerging with a convincing 8-1 win over the St. Joseph Lafayette Fighting Irish.
The only win grabbed by the St. Joe “North Siders” came in a marathon #2 singles match, with Rowa Davis defeating Kendall Crowley 9-8, with the tiebreaker going to 12-10.
The other singles matches were decidedly dominated by Trenton, with Mallory Sole and Alaina Overton winning by 6-love finals, Lexi Gott taking an 8-1 win, Morgan Dolan winning 8-1, and Gwyneth Foster finishing off an 8-6 triumph.
In doubles, Foster and Sole won 8-1, with Gott combining with Crowley and Dolan and Overton teaming for 8-2 wins.
The JV singles match played saw Trenton’s Baley Catron beat Lafayette’s MaKayla Tovey 6-3.
Trenton will be at the Benton Tournament in St. Joseph on Wednesday.
