The Trenton Bulldogs improved to 6-3 this spring, taking down the Chillicothe Hornets on Friday afternoon with a score of 6 wins to 3.  The Bulldogs dominated singles play, winning five of six matches, as the visiting Hornets claimed two of the three doubles matches.

The match of the day was played at #4 singles, where Trenton’s Jacob White and Chillicothe’s Andrew Snider had a contest go right down to the wire.  With the score tied 8-8, a tiebreaker was needed to separate the two combatants.  White emerged with a 8-6 edge to take the match.

At #6 singles, Trenton’s Henry Lasley had a competitive matchup with Austin Lyford, with Lasley winning 8-5.  Brayden Sager beat Jadon Collins by an identical 8-5 score at #1 singles.

In the #3 singles match, Trenton’s Isaac Dixon roared to an 8-love shutout of Anthony Trantham, while Jake Horton won at #5 singles by a score of 8-2 over Elijah Carpenter.

Chillicothe’s only singles victory came in the #2 match, with Joshua Adams doubling up Trenton’s Victor Markell 8-4.

Trenton’s lone doubles triumph was in the #2 match, with Markell and Dixon downing Trantham and Snider 8-1.  Collins and Adams of Chillicothe won the #1 doubles match over Sager and White 8-1, while Chillicothe’s Carpenter and Quincy Swearingen, at #3 doubles, beat Horton and Lasley 8-4.

In JV singles action, Chillicothe’s Swearingen swept Trenton’s Ryeland Kirk 6-Love.

The varsity setback drops Chillicothe’s season record to 6 wins against a pair of defeats.
