Claycomb’s 41 lead Bobcats to win over Grundy County

Ethan Claycomb exploded for 41 points on Thursday night, leading the East Harrison Bobcats to a 69-51 victory over the visiting Grundy R-5 Panthers in HDC Conference boys basketball action.    The Panthers played very competitive basketball coming out of the locker room for the 1st and 3rd quarters, tied at 15 after eight minutes and outscored 13-10 in the third quarter.  However, the Bobcats dominated the 2nd and 4th quarters, outscoring Grundy by a combined 41-26 in those quarters.

Grundy had Jonathan Stimpson with 20 points, with Wayne Baxter adding 12, and Bryson Gann 10 points.

The Lady Panthers won the opener, using a 14-5 third quarter edge to extend a 2 point halftime edge in a 56-41 road win.  Grundy County had 18 points from Jandie Peterson, with Matana Munday and Aubrey Gann both tallying nine points.  Lauryn Waddle led the Lady Bobcats with 19 points while Natalie Selby had 15.

The Gilman City Hawks swept the Breckenridge Bulldogs in a Thursday night doubleheader.  In the opener, Hailey Burrows had 42 points in leading the Ladyhawks to a 60-42 victory.  Megan Cottrell added 11 points for Gilman City.  

The Hawks, in the boys contest, had a season-high 26 point night from sophomore Kaleb Bjornlie and 11 from senior Skylar Reynolds in a 63-41 win over the Bulldogs.
