The University of Alabama, with 158 votes, has been picked as the favorite to win the Southeastern Conference football title in 2022.  Voting was done among media members attending SEC Football Media Days.

Defending national champion Georgia was a distant second to the Crimson Tide, with the Bulldogs picked second with 18 votes.  Third place South Carolina received three selections, followed by Vanderbilt and Texas A&M with one each.

In the Eastern Division of the SEC, Georgia picked up 172 of a possible 181 first place votes, with 1254 points to take the favorites position.  Kentucky, with four first-place votes and 932 points, was second, followed by Tennessee’s one first place tally and 929 votes for third place.  Florida was picked fourth, followed by South Carolina, although the Gamecocks, buoyed by preseason hype with the addition of transfer quarterback Spencer Rattler, receiving three first place votes.  The Missouri Tigers, with 383 points, are sixth, ahead of only Vanderbilt.

Alabama received 177 first-place votes to win the SEC West, followed by Texas A&M and Arkansas.  The Aggies had three and the Razorbacks one first place nod.  Ole Miss is fourth, ahead of LSU, Mississippi State, and Auburn.

Preseason individual honors were also voted upon, with Missouri receiving very little fanfare.  Offensive lineman Javon Foster of the Tigers was a third-team selection, as was placekicker Harrison Mevis of MU.
