GRC champion Lady Bulldogs earn #1 seed in next week’s District 15 softball tournament

The Trenton Lady Bulldog softball team, 21-1 heading into a “Senior Night” battle with Chillicothe (Monday – 5 PM – KGOZ FM 101.7), will have the top seed for the Class 2, District 15 tournament, enjoying, along with #2 seed Penney High of Hamilton, a first-round bye.  

First-round action for the District 15 will start on Wednesday night (October 4th), with #4 seed Carrollton (7-16) playing #5 South Harrison (6-12) at 5 o’clock, followed by #3 seed Lexington (8-13) taking on sixth-seeded Bishop LeBlond (0-11) at 6:30.

Trenton, in Thursday’s semifinal round, will take on the Carrollton/South Harrison winner at 5 o’clock, with Hamilton playing either Lexington or Bishop LeBlond at 6:30.

The winners will play in the Class 2, District 15 championship game on Saturday, October 7th at 11 o’clock.

All five games in the district tournament will be played at the Ebbe Sports Complex and Mark Griffin Memorial Field, adjacent to Trenton High School.  The District 15 champion will host a Class 2 sectional against the District 16 champion on Wednesday, October 11th.  

District 16 is being played next week at Macon High School.  Marceline is the top seed, followed by #2 seed Macon,  the #3 seed Putnam County Lady Midgets, #4 South Shelby, #5 seed Brookfield, and sixth-seeded Milan Lady Wildcats.
