Kirksville sweeps tennis duel with Trenton Bulldogs

The Kirksville Tigers improved to 7-4-1 on the tennis season, winning a Monday afternoon duel with the Trenton Bulldogs, 9 to nothing.  Two of the Tigers singles players won by 8-love scores, with Rusian Pultz beating Jacob Davis at #1 singles and Adam Aghalith downing Creed Houghton at #4 singles.  At #2 singles, Kirksville’s Bennett Hoshaw was a 8-2 winner over Bryce Whitney.  Aidan Murphy of the Tigers, at #3 singles, downed Kade Ockenfels 8-3, while Reza Hamidi, playing at #5 singles, was an 8-6 winner over Trenton’s Wyatt Neal.

In doubles play, Pultz and Hoshaw beat Whitney and Ockenfels, 8-2; Murphy and Alghalith defeated Davis and Houghton 8-2, while Hamidi and Hendler doubled up Neal and May 8-4.  Trenton’s loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-5 on the season.

Trenton had a tennis match-up scheduled for Tuesday at St. Joseph Lafayette, however stormy weather cancelled the duel.  It will not be made up.

Kirksville and Trenton played four JV doubles matches on Monday.  Results were Kirksville’s Bartholomew and Johnson over Trenton’s Sibbit and Maberry 8-1; Kirksville’s Thomas and Krusniak over Trenton’s Hamilton and Otto 8-2, Kirksville’s Jackson and Fraser over Trenton’s Sibbit and Maberry 9-7, and Kirksville’s Tonatore and Polovich over Trenton’s Hamilton and Otto 8-1.
