Lady Bulldogs, confidence buoyed by strong district performance, aim to continue volleyball surge in 2020

The Trenton Lady Bulldogs head into district play last season at Lathrop High School considered by many to be an also-ran in the battle for a district championship, and berth in Missouri’s round of 16 playoffs.  After two nights of competition against Hamilton and Mid-Buchanan, the Lady Bulldogs season was over, but the program had earned a good amount of respect.

THS rolled to a quarterfinal win over Penney, and claimed the first set in an upset bid against Mid-Buchanan in the semifinal round, but struggled late in trying to close out the match, falling in three sets.

With a new group to lead, but a year of coaching under her belt, coach Pam Bowden likes the mix that the team has for 2020:

While the Lady Bulldog roster did take its share of hits from graduation, the returning talent, particularly with the hitters that patrol near the net, should give the girls confidence:

With Trenton seeing the potential of a district championship appearance ripped away last year, Bowden feels like, while it is a challenge, getting a district championship is a realistic goal for the program heading into the new decade:

Numbers are strong with the Trenton program, with a final number in the upper 20’s anticipated.  The start for THS will be of importance, as four consecutive home matches open the season, with the Lady Bulldogs taking on Cameron on August 31st, Lawson on September 1st, Chillicothe on September 3rd, and Plattsburg September 8th.
